Coach Kristy Bishop

Family: I live with my husband, Andy, our dog, Molly and our cat, Reeses.

My Day Job: Environmental Engineer – I work with different businesses and facilities (colleges, hospitals, manufacturing plants) and help them to comply with state and federal air quality regulations.  I also work with colleges and universities to develop climate action plans and sustainability programs.

Hometown: I grew up in Rumford, Maine and now live in Windham, Maine

Volleyball Experience:  I’ve been playing junior olympic, college club, beach volleyball and competitive adult volleyball for 16 years.  I can’t believe I’m old enough to say I’ve been playing for 16 years – scary!!

Coaching Experience:  I coached junior olympic volleyball with another club for two seasons from 2002-2004 and I coached with Portland North (Portland Juniors) from 2004-2006.  After moving around a bit I’m back and excited to coach again!

Current Coaching Level:  16s Victory

Coaching Certifications: IMPACT certified

Favorite Food: Buffalo wings, pizza, lasagna, Thai, Mexican, choc chip cookies. 

Favorite TV Shows: True Blood, Entourage, The Office, Ugly Betty, The Wonder Years

Hobbies: Volleyball, cycling, skiing, fitness, hiking, camping, being creative!

My Role Model: My parents who exhibit kindness and respect every day – something I strive for!

Best Things To Ever Happen To Me In Volleyball: Watching girls that I’ve coached become stronger players and continuing to play in college and beyond – it makes me happy knowing that I’ve contributed toward someone’s “love” of the game.
