Maine Juniors Director, John Razsa, has announced the creation of a new College Recruitment Coordinator position. Jean Gould, mother of Maine Juniors’ players Diana and Isabelle Kolb, has agreed to serve as the Club’s first administrator with responsibilities entirely around supporting Maine Juniors players who have the goal – or may have the goal in the future- of extending their playing careers at the college level. Jean had previously been volunteering to develop club resources in this vital area.
John said, “This step in the Club’s evolution to enhance the level of services to our players with a full range of information and support regarding the college recruitment process has been some time in the making. Jean is the perfect person to fill the position and will now lead the effort. She has worked over the last two years to gain the needed knowledge base to take what we offer to a much higher level. Her focus, judgement and energy will go a long way to make certain that each player who desires it, has the best chance to play the sport she loves in a higher education setting which provides academic challenge and success as well.”
Jean Gold will coordinate all Club services regarding recruitment with support from the Director who himself recruited hundreds of athletes over a twelve year college coaching career. Our top notch, recruitment oriented, coaches also will support Jean and each member of their selected 2016-17 teams who want to play at that next level. She will provide in person introductions on the Club’s new, free recruitment service, Volleyball Recruits. This effective and easy to use platform will be available to most of our players who have that interest. It can replace the need for unnecessary expensive, out-of-pocket services.
Jean will continue to develop improved website information and guidance to Maine Juniors players and parents and easy online access to brief player profiles for college coaches looking for the right player for their program. She will help develop an annual Maine Juniors recruitment seminar with visiting college coaches.
It is a challenging task to assist so many strong players to find their next volleyball home after Maine Juniors, and Jean is eager and ready for that challenge!
