16U Boys’ Season Recap

2018 proudly saw the creation of the first Maine Juniors’ boys’ team in almost a decade. This 16U team marks one of the first and most important indicators that boys’ volleyball is coming to Maine. The team’s creation was a direct result of the ever-increasing desire to see boys’ volleyball played in Maine. The team’s eclectic makeup was entertaining to watch as well as their journey from beginning players to a team that competed in three NERVA tournaments this season. According to Coach Nichols, a major reason for the team’s steady improvement was the manner in which the older players worked with, protected, and supported the younger players. This attitude and mentoring were fundamental to creating a team that truly looked out for each other while increasing everyone’s growth and accountability.
