My Name: Corey Papadopoli
IMPACT, CAP I, Gold Medal Squared
I was head coach at Ellsworth High School and MDI High School for 7 years. Most recently I coached the 14U Northeast team for the last 5 years. Previously I had coached the 18U Northeast team for 2 years and am excited to be back with that team.
I started playing volleyball my freshman year of high school. Only 5’ tall at the time, my coach said, “you’re going to be a setter.” I grew 10 inches within the next year and earned the starting job running a 5-1. I played 4 years in college at Wentworth Institute of Technology, starting the last two years. My junior year we joined the NECVA Metro Division, playing Division I and III teams and earned our first national ranking my 4th year. After a 5-year hiatus, I started playing again in 2004 and play in leagues and 5-10 tournaments a year.
I’m excited to be back with the 18U Northeast team. Looking forward to working with a fun, hard-working group of young women.
Why I Love Coaching:
I love volleyball and I love working with kids. Setting goals and working hard to achieve them is one of my priorities. The promotion of teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership are skills that everyone needs in life.
My Day Job:
I am an architect and I cannot imagine doing anything else. Except coaching volleyball, of course.
Norwich, CT. I came to Maine via Florence, Italy.
Almost anything Italian, but especially tiramisu. And gelato. Our family tradition at Thanksgiving is to eat lasagna, which baffles many of my friends. But I still carry on the tradition (with tiramisu for desert).
Other Info To Share:
I met my wife through volleyball, coaching both her daughters.
