My Name: Kate Myers
This is my first year coaching.
In high school, I played for Yarmouth High School. I played middle and outside hitter. We won the state championship for the first time in 2013. All throughout high school, I played for Maine Juniors.
I have also played for the Brewer Recreation league the last few years.
My goal for this season is to pass my experience and love for the game to the players I work with to help them grow on and off the court. I want to help the girls develop sportsmanship, positivity, team work, dedication, routine, responsibility, as well as the fundamentals of the game. My practices will include focusing on key fundamentals, scrimmagining and a workout session.
Why I Love Coaching:
I am excited to start coaching because I love playing volleyball, and it was such a huge part of my life in high school. I l developed skills like, dedication, responsibility, time management, positivity, teamwork and many more. As a coach, I want to help the girls learn these skills that will help them succeed in the volleyball season, and in life. I also love being around kids of all ages. I am looking forward to sharing my love for the sport while teaching them how to develop as a volleyball player and as a human being. I am also excited to be a role model for the girls.
My Day Job:
I am a fifth grade math and writing teacher at Nokomis Regional Middle School. This is my third year teaching, and my first year in a brand new building. Aside from coaching, I am online health and fitness work, so I help people of all ages live a healthy lifestyle while working out at home.
My favorite food is Steak, Sweet Potatoes, and Green Beans. My favorite dessert is strawberry rhubarb.
