Team Cobalt dug deep to earn a first place finish in our NERVA IV tournament. Each of my players gave 110% and their determination to work cohesively as a team was visually evident. What a great display of talent yesterday!
Thank you to all the parents who continually support their daughters in their love of the game. We couldn’t do it without you!

Overall, for our first tournament as a whole, things went very well. The host was a bit disorganized in getting us proper information/forms to fill to submit our forms for rotation. As 12 year olds, all teams worked hard to keep up with the score sheet and flipping to the proper scores, but often got mixed up in what to do. This will come in time with experience.
Sportsmanship was great. Coaches were helping other teams girls when needed especially with keeping score. Minimal frustration was observed due to scoring issues.
I’m happy to have one tournament under our belt, and most importantly very impressed with the girls spirits and hard work.

While our team got off to a slow start, once they shook off their first tournament jitters, they showed improvement with each game. After going 4-2 in pool play, and dropping two games to the number one seed from that pool, they advanced to the semi-finals to face a tough Titans squad. Down by five at one point they battled back in a nail biter of a match to pull out a 26-24 victory, earning a spot in the finals. Here they would face the same team that had beat them twice in pool play, the Gators host team. Playing their best volleyball of the tournament, the Northeast team pulled off the upset in what proved to be the most exciting match of the day. The team was aided by tough serving (56 aces on the day) and good serve receive. But their greatest strength proved to be the evolution and coalescence of 10 individuals into a solid team.
