Hi Coaches,
We are about to get very busy! Thank you ahead of time for all your hard work. It’s an exciting time our year!
My name is Jon Roberts and I am the technical director for the club. This year that role has taken on some more responsibilities related to making sure we are all teaching our players in a similar way. Last year we worked together at our end of season meeting to come up with an age related curriculum. After reviewing the list, the majority of topics of concern were common to all ages. This year we will be putting an emphasis on teaching this “common curriculum” in a number of ways including having all the players do common fundamental drills, and using a common language early and often.
A big step in that process is our coaches clinic scheduled on Friday 11/16 (6pm-9pm) and Saturday 11/17 (9am-4pm). This will be held in the Alfond Center at Saint Jospeh’s College, 278 Whites Bridge Road, Standish ME.
We will have multiple coach presenters and our main focus is to get everyone on the same page at the beginning of the season. We will discuss how we teach skills, using a common language, and the curriculum that we helped develope at our end of the season meeting last year. It is very important that everyone attend.
There will be both classroom and gym sessions. We are in need of some teams to come be demonstration teams.
If you would like to volunteer your team to be a demonstration team please let me know. We want all levels and ages respresented. You don’t need to be a presenter to have your team demonstrate. Some of our most experienced coaches will work with your team.
More to come…
Sincerely,
Jon Roberts
